ABOUT NIINA
Niina is an accomplished and versatile harpist who started her musical journey back in 2006 on the piano, and discovered her love for the classical harp 2 years later in 2008. She auditioned for a prestigious music school in Manchester with the harp as first instrument and received an immediate offer after studying for 9 months. During intensive studies at the music school, Niina came across the Paraguayan harp, and was captivated by the style of music played with it. She managed to received 3 months of training, however with no teachers for this kind of harp in England, she was left to teach herself. With solid musical training for 4 years at Chetham's School of Music, Niina chose to continue her classical harp studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2013; still playing the Paraguayan harp on the side. Niina realised that her true heart lay with the Paraguayan harp and decided to devote all her time learning this beautiful instrument. In March 2016, Niina took a big step going to study in Paraguay for a year under one of the greatest maestros of the Paraguayan harp; Martin Portillo. Putting herself in a country so far from home, and surrounding herself in the culture and language she wasn't used to, gave her the experience of a lifetime where she gained a greater understanding of her chosen instrument; improved technique and an expanded repertoire.

Niina is now back in the UK, performing at various venues for solo concerts and accompanying engagements, been invited to play and be interviewed about the Paraguayan harp on BBC Lincolnshire radio and has also been in the local newspapers. Niina aims to continue spreading her music and sharing the beauty of the Paraguayan harp with others.
